Dick York (born September 4, 1928 – died February 20, 1992) was an American actor best remembered for portraying Darrin Stephens on the hit television sitcom Bewitched.
Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and raised in Chicago, York began acting in radio programs during his youth. He went on to appear in films such as They Came to Cordura (1959) alongside Gary Cooper and Rita Hayworth.
His most famous role came with the 1960s sitcom Bewitched, where he played Darrin Stephens opposite Elizabeth Montgomery. His comedic timing and relatable portrayal helped make the series a classic.
York’s career was interrupted by chronic back pain from an on-set injury. Despite his health challenges, he became known for his charitable work in later years, particularly helping the homeless.
